Shame on me, I haven’t posted about my brother (in the Army) in a while! He finished his Advanced Individual Training (with Honors) right before Thanksgiving, and has been home since. It was definitely great being able to spend some time with him, and listening to some of his stories. He’s leaving for Germany on Thursday for two years. Every single person we’ve heard from has had nothing but wonderful things to say about Germany. The only sucky thing is that it’s not cheap flying to/from Germany, so we won’t see him unless we fly there. Yikes! Still, it’ll be a great experience for him. I’m sure there’s lots to see, and he’ll be able to visit France and other places while he’s there too. I’m happy for him and wish him nothing but the best, and a very safe trip there! Hopefully we’ll find a way to visit him, because two years is a long time.
Anyway, I just wanted to write a quick update. Even though it’s been a while, it’s still weird when I think about my brother being in the Army. How’d that happen? But we’re all very proud. He’s done great (got lots of certificates/awards) and I think it’s cool that he’s learned all these things. (He’s a medic.) He’s thinking of making a career out of this, so good for him! That’s all for now. Auf Wiedersehen! That’s goodbye in German…
I wish him well. Isn’t it awesome to think that his role, an individual in a huge machine, is why our freedoms continue day after day?
Thank you! That’s the most serious comment you’ve ever left me, I think. 😉
Probably was…I have a special place in my heart for our armed forces.
You should be soo proud of him. I love how supportive you are of him. 🙂
Thanks! We are proud. 😀 Long time no see, Becca!
Looking spiffy in the uniform! I really have a lot of respect for people like your brother who make the life-changing decision to join a sector of the armed forces. I’ve also heard fantastic things about Germany so I hope he gets some time off to do some exploring! And I also hope you guys at least get a chance to visit him at some point. Wishing your brother (and your family) all the best, especially during this holiday season!
Thanks Lillian! Yeah, I actually had no idea how many people enjoyed Germany til now! It would be nice to go but ehhhh, 7-8 hours on a plane, I can barely handle 4 to Puerto Rico… 😦 But maybe, would be nice to visit him in a totally different country I’ve never been to. 😀
That’s wonderful, Lily! What a handsome young man! The best to him. Con Dios y la Virgen. xo
Thanks Maria! Que así sea.
He’s looking quite sharp in that uniform. So, 2 years IS a long time . . . probably too long for an engagement as well, huh? Will he be able to come home for your wedding? Or maybe, a destination wedding in Germany! 😉 Here’s hoping him all the best overseas. And thanks for the update!
I know, I was recently thinking the same thing, wondering if he’d be able to come to my wedding?! We have too many family members who wouldn’t be able to travel so we’re thinking Puerto Rico…would be pretty expensive for my brother. Oh well, not gonna worry about that now. As long as he’s safe and sound in Germany! Thanks Misty!
Oh man, Germany… that is pretty cool. You should save up and see him, that way you can say you saw your brother AND Germany.
Yup, would be pretty cool to go some place in Europe…never been. 😉
A big thank you to your brother for his service and dedication.
He’s a cutie too 🙂
