Like glass
hanging by
a mere thread
we are
fragile and
just as breakable

Every second
another decision
is taken from our hands
and somebody
is taking their last breath

Life is
too short
too delicate
to live any other way
than by

Loving deeply
living graciously
forgiving often
and respecting others

Never forgetting
how much hangs in the balance
on the smallest of strings

is the most precious thing

We are
so precious

*I’ve been trying to write this for a week, but I finally gave up and posted it as is. My writer’s block is beyond stubborn.*

  1. What perfect timing to post this poem as in our city they found two girls that were abducted 10 years ago yesterday! (Amanda Berry) They were found alive! Life is precious!

  2. “Loving deeply / living graciously / forgiving often / and respecting others” –> I love this stanza. Simple, to the point, but full of meaning.

Don’t feel bad on the writer’s block. I feel like I’ve only recently got over mine since December. Sometimes you just have to stop trying and just go with it. In this case, I think it worked out. πŸ™‚

      1. Isn’t it incredibly lame? I feel like I’ve only recently just been reborn or something, cheesy as that sounds. Get some sunshine if you can! πŸ™‚

  3. Looks like I’m not the only one who found this portion of your poem to be particularly inspirational…
    Loving deeply
    living graciously
    forgiving often
    and respecting others

  4. Awesome. I love your writing (and poems really often). I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, and while I do think these awards don’t really go anywhere you should know that I genuinely believe you deserve it Lily! I will keep reading your stuff even if nothing comes of this nom!

    1. Thanks so much Sonya! I appreciate you reading and of course, the nomination! I haven’t done an awards post in a while. I tend to forget or sometimes I just can’t stand the rules…BUT! It’s super awesome to be nominated, so I really appreciate it! πŸ™‚
