Letting Go

Slowly, steadily
Let go of my hand
And look at me

Fearless, stronger
No need to rely on me
Any longer

I love you and I always will
But this journey
Has found its ending

Summer greens turn to Autumn yellows
Love stories become
Yesterday’s memories

Slowly, steadily
Look how far you’ve come
So quickly

Calmly, confidently
Let go of my hand now
And be happy

  1. So bittersweet! Several images came to mind…from a parent watching their child take their first steps… to that first bike ride alone… to a child heading off to college… to the end of young love…to a father letting their daughter’s hand go at her wedding. Growth is scary and exciting…and necessary. (Guess your writers block is gone! :-))

      1. I’m thinking the poetry muse tap danced in your brain. πŸ™‚ I loved it, actually…it’s very much about the transitions of life…at least that’s how I saw it. You can’t get to the next chapter if you’re too afraid to let go of the current one. Maybe that’s what your writer’s block was trying to send to your subconscious. πŸ˜‰

  2. I love your blogs… but how come I never see them updated or get email notifications for them? I always have to click on your comments on mine to come to your page? So weird

    1. Thanks! That’s weird…you’re following me but I don’t show up on your reader? Under the reader section, if you click on “Blogs I Follow” then “edit list” you can set it up to receive email updates instantly, that way the post notification will be in your email. Otherwise, the only notification will be through the reader. πŸ™‚

  3. Your poems are back! Glad this one is current rather than not. πŸ˜‰ but either way, I always enjoy reading them. This one’s got the atmosphere of Autumn all over it, just right for this time of year!
