Goodbye…Beautiful Girl

credit: http://vi.sualize.us

Broken, just hollow inside
Streaming down, tears she can’t hide
Falling, she’s falling so far behind
Can’t move up, she’s lost in time
Oh, can’t you see the slashes on her wrist?
Do you know what’s caused all of this?
She gave up everything so long ago
And now she’s left completely alone

Screaming, she is losing her voice
Crying, knowing she has no choice
Dying, wondering what’s left in store
Pleading, she can’t do this anymore
Crashing and burning, she’s falling apart
Bleeding, every wound leading straight to the heart
She gave up this battle so long ago
And now she’s left this way, hollow and alone

Oh, can’t you see the slashes on her wrist?
Can’t you see the blood-soaked paper she has ripped?
Pouring her heart out, she writes it all down
Only helping her see just how she’s failed now
I can see the slashes on her wrist and down her neck
I see the troubled look written across her face
Tears and blood streaming down, down so far
But she’s still so beautiful, beautifully scarred

Who is this beautiful girl who is falling apart?
Why can’t she seem to stitch up her broken heart?
Oh, can’t you see the slashes on her wrist?
Do you know what has caused all of this?
Such a beauty and such a terrible wreck
Bleeding from the scars all across her neck
And they still tell her that she’s beautiful
But no one sees the girl inside, she’s forced to hide

She doesn’t want to hear she’s beautiful anymore
She wants a way out, a way out of this world
Her eyes are bleeding crimson tears
On the inside, holding on to all her fears
And they still tell her that she’s beautiful
But it’s all just a mask to her
She hides her scars from the entire world
She just wants to get out, let go of the hurt

You’ll never see the slashes on her wrist
You’ll never know what has led her to this
You’ll see her on the street and smile her way
She’ll cry, knowing she’s not okay
She doesn’t want to hear she’s beautiful
She only wants a way out
Goodbye…beautiful girl

  1. Powerful stuff, Lily. And sadly, so very applicable to many girls out there. At the very least, this poem provided a voice for them. Glad you shared this with all of us.
